Descriptions and tips for Disneyland (Anaheim,CA) Sea world and California Adventure?

My family and I are all going to California to go to Disneyland, CA, and Sea world.
The ages inculde 17, 11, 6, and 3. The 17, 11, and 6 year old enjoy speed and huge rides. (mostly the 17 and 11 year old)
The 3 year old enjoys cars and trains.
I would find it helpful to get some worthy tips on how to plan out the park days.

PLEASE AND THANK YOU:)

Costco usually has the cheapest tickets to these places.

Be sure to take advantage of the fast pass option. This can save you lots of time.

Your older children will be bored with some of the rides that your younger children will want to ride. It might be wise to separate for part of the time at least. Some of the rides have a special Single rider line that can also save lots of time for your older children. You go to the front of the line and are placed in whenever there is space for a single rider. Space Mountain and California Soars are the 2 rides I can think of that have this. Sometimes you walk right onto the ride in 5 minutes or less this way!

Be at the parks when they open. They are far less crowded and you can get a lot more done when there are less people. If you are staying nearby, take a break and go back to your hotel. Swim, relax, take a nap and then return to the the park after dinner. The last 2 hours before closing are usually way less crowded as well.

While in San Diego, you might want to take in some of the museums in Balboa Park. The zoo is also located in the park. There’s a children’s train ride near the zoo that your 3 year old would enjoy and a museum all about model trains.

Your 3 year old would be best in Disney’s Fantasy Land the Majority of the time.
Your 11 & 17 are going to enjoy everything but Fantasyland!
The 6 year old will enjoy some of Fantasyland, but other attractions might be too much.

I strongly suggest if two adults are going, to consider splitting up a part of the day, one adult with the 11 & 17 to do the "high speed rides" like matterhorn, spacemountain, while another adult takes the 3 & 6, through fantasyland, and then meeting up so the 6 year old could enjoy some thrill rides (indiana jones)while the lil one rests.
Spend the rest of the time together, there are many rides that the whole family can enjoy together like Jungle Cruise, Small World, Pirates of the Carribean.

First off, be sure to buy the City Pass (www.citypass.com). You get admission to several parks, including 3 days at Disneyland Resort, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and Universal. Even if you don’t go to all the parks, it’s a good deal.

Next, you want to show up early to the parks, to maximize your day. Find out when the parks open, and plan to be there an hour early. With a family that size, that should put you in the parks right at opening.

Sea World won’t matter too much because it’s all about the shows. Everyone can stay together. Just check out the schedule and plan accordingly.

In Disneyland, you might want to split up the older kids and younger kids. The older ones will want to ride the coasters and thrill rides (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, Indian Jones, Star Tours… In California Adventure… California Screamin’, Tower of Terror, and Maliboomer) The younger kids will want to ride the more tame rides: Dumbo, Casey Junior, Snow White’s Adventure, visit Mickey in Toon Town, etc. I suggest some time together, and some time apart, in order to maximize your time. Be sure to collect fast passes to use later on. Call 714-781-DINE to make reservations at sit-down restaurants like Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans, or Blue Bayou (BB is expensive, but very cool. It’s inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride). For the together time, go on rides like It’s a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Haunted Mansion. Don’t miss the parades and the fireworks.

I highly recommend staying at the Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, Candy Cane Inn, or Howard Johnson. The first two are on the property, but are more expensive. The latter two are very close to Disneyland, which means you can walk back to the hotel for a nap or a swim in the afternoon if you need to.

Use the lockers on Main Street, so that you don’t have to carry everything around all day.

Do you have a Chase Disney Visa? One of the perks is free stroller rental at Disneyland, up to two per day. REALLY handy, you don’t have to haul the stroller(s) on the tram.

There is something for all ages at Disneyland. i would suggest that the 17 and 11 split off and go on their own. have them take the six year old if they can. The three year old will like all the Fantasy land and small world ride. It would be a disaster to expect the older kids to do the small kids rides.
As a parent, the three year olds love the little kids rides so much and they are so happy…it makes you happy. Be sure to take pictures they are always so cute.

It is natural for some small children to be frightened by some of the costumes. But the peopel in the costumes are trainded on how to handle the frightened little one.

Check out the Disneyland web page and have your older children map out their day and arrange meeting times. In the old days we did not have cell phone so getting lost was always a problem. Make sure they have cell phones, know that it is a paretty safe place for the kids and just have a good and safe time.

p.s.: It is best to go in the middle of the week.

Disneyland has a kitty land so you will be fine, California adventure isn’t worth the price and there is not enough in there to keep you busy. I personal prefer Universal Studios, they have covered lines with mist blowers and tv and they have so many of one ride you never really wait longer than 30 minutes or so, as oppose to waiting 3 hours in line at Disneyland, I would go with the fast pass while you are there to save you time. I think every kid to should go to all theme parks at least one. They will have a blast.
