What do you think of my valedictorian speech?

by the way this is for 8th grade..and i didn’t welcome everyone cause that’s someone else’s job
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I am glad to represent Totten I.S. 34’s class of 2009. Today is the day we have all been waiting for. It’s finally graduation. I remember my first day in I.S 34 when Mr. Boyle told us all that our three years would go by in a snap. I like many of you found that hard to believe. Today, when I look back at that moment I can tell that he was right. The first day In I.S 34 was overwhelming, new teachers, new building, new kids, and new rules. We were lucky to get the best assistant principal, Mr.Boyle, and the best dean, Mr. Lafier. The two of them have made our three years as entertaining as possible.
Sixth grade was fun, we all made new friends and we became adapted to the school. The worst part about sixth grade was having to walk up three flights of stairs everyday from the lunchroom to get to the third floor. When seventh grade started some friendships ended and others got stronger. We got to see more of the school because our classes were no longer next door to each other. Eight grade began and we were all excited, we were finally seniors. Since September we were all looking forward to great adventures, prom, and graduation. But as the days passed by we realized 8th grade wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be. We had so many tests and so little time. At first I couldn’t wait to get out of this school, but as time flew by I realized I dreaded the last day of school. The last day of school meant the last day in I.S. 34, the last day with all the teachers who we got to know really well, and most importantly, the last day with many friends we have grown to love.
There are many teachers in I.S. 34 I will miss. Every teacher I had was unique in his or her own way. Mrs. Stabile is best math teacher I have ever had, she’s crazy and she admits it. Mrs. Verderber was my favorite science teacher, she’s a very dedicated teacher who has a strong passion for science. Mrs. Salveseen is one of those teachers who is actually nice but likes to be known as the “mean teacher”.
Graduation isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning. We will all begin high school next year. High school is when we have to choose our own path and be separated from the friends we have come to love. Many of us will be attending high schools within Staten Island such as, Tottenville, Moore, Sea, Tech, Wagner, and Farrell. Others will venture outside Staten Island and go to high schools like La Guardia, Stuyvesant, and Brooklyn Tech. The idea of going to high school is bittersweet. Bitter because we have no idea what’s ahead of us, and sweet because it will surly be a great experience.
High school is the beginning our future. We must all follow our dreams and do whatever it takes to achieve them. The great Walt Disney once said, “ All our dreams can come true……..if we have the courage to pursue them.” It takes more than education to have a successful and sparkling future. We must also have strength, determination, courage, faith, inspiration, and most importantly a vivid imagination. My fellow classmates, the best advice I can give you is not my own, but that of the great writer Dr. Seuss. “ You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”
Even though this is my last year in I.S. 34 this school will always be a part of me. There are many memories that I will cherish forever. I will always remember the fun times me and my friends had on our numerous trips. I will never forget Mr.Boyle and Mr.Lafier’s constant bickering or how Mr. Preston was only a couple of inches away from hitting the ceiling.
Over these 3 years we have all made great friends, whom we will remember forever. We will always have a place in our heart for them, even though we are all going our separate ways. Always remember, “ To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream. Not only plan, but also believe.” Always strive for what you want, and you will go far. As we the class of 2009 walk out these doors ready to face the world let us take the time to think about all those who got us here. Our mothers, fathers, family, principal, assistant principal, dean, and most of all our wonderful teachers. Thank you.

Wow! I think that this is a great speech :) I wish you luck!
